3D Systems Corp. has developed a three-dimensional printing polymer that mimics conventional injection molding materials.
VisiJet M3 Black is the strongest, most durable material offered for 3D Systems’ ProJet 3500/3510 3D printers, according to the Rock Hill, S.C., firm. The new material, the composition of which was not disclosed by 3D Systems, features toughness and flex properties that make it suited to snap-fit and assembly applications.
3D Systems claims the new polymer can help engineers and designers prototype, test and use parts that look and feel like the final, injection-molded product. The material and ProJet printers level the playing field for designers, inventors and manufacturers.
“VisiJet M3 Black parts have the toughness and durability for rigorous testing and direct end use,” said Buddy Byrun, vice president of product and channel management, in a news release.
